Introduction

The Knowledge Portal is a digital platform, hosted on Population Foundation of India’s website, to share information, data, research, and analyses on population dynamics, sexual and reproductive health and gender issues.

Available in English and Hindi, the portal aims to assist researchers, media professionals, policymakers and academicians in better understanding these issues. It contains the latest news and updates, categorised into specific themes for ease of navigation and reference. The portal also contains resources including, but not limited to, factsheets, briefs, infographics and audio-visuals; as well as links to external resources that offer additional insights on gender, family planning and sexual and reproductive health.

A key feature of this Knowledge Portal is a comprehensivedashboard on National Family Health Survey (NHFS) (a large-scale survey conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a representative sample of households across India). The dashboard, with a user-friendly interface, provides access to state-wise data on indicators related to fertility, infant and child mortality, maternal and reproductive health and the utilisation of family planning services. It also presentsdistrict-level data analysis for each state / UT based on NFHS-5 numbers.

The latest version of the Portal introduces an LLM based search function that engages users in a chat format, offering insightful answers to questions about population dynamics, sexual and reproductive health, and gender issues.
